Thanks Scott :)

I've definitely found the routines to be a HUGE help, but like you said, the pomodoro is only a tool/vehicle and it does take the discipline.

The marketer that I actually learned this from follows this workday structure: 1.5 hours of hardcore focused work, break, 1.5 hours of hardcore work, break, then about 4-5 pomodoros (5 min. break after each) to round out the day! The best part is that everything gets done and at 5:00 or so I can clock out physically AND mentally from work! I've found that to be the biggest benefit, and the main factor that keeps me motivated to keep going :D

Jimmy, great blog post. I bought the Pomodoro app for my Macbook Pro a few months ago, thinking it automatically blocked the internet and all the usual time-wasters. Since it doesn't on its own, I've found your last point to be the key. The Pomodoro app is great because it helps me stay focused, but I have to decide that nothing can get in the way of that block of time. I haven't gotten into a routine of using it, but your post has inspired me to get 'er done. I do agree, Pomodoro can help anyone, but only if you're a self-motivator, to some degree at least. And you don't even need the app, just set a certain block of time for yourself.

Great post, thanks for sharing.

I hope you don't think that I am being unkind to Elder Hales. This was never my intention. He is a sweet and gentle man, as I said in the post. I simply hadn't heard anything and as such reacted the way I did. This post was meant to be a very candid look into my conference experience. I hope you enjoyed reading.

Sometimes people with kidney failure have this puffy look in the face. Many things can cause kidneys to shut-down or malfunction. If we are all having trouble finding information it must mean that he wishes it to be private. How brave to choose to speak knowing there would be much speculation regarding his health. May God bless this gently man.

He looked markedly different than at any other point in recent history, and he was unable to stand. 1,000's have been searching online today to find out with Elder Hales, and at the time of this posting, there was no better information online than what I published. It was certainly not in the spirit of gossip, and as I stated I think he is very tender and full of love right now.

Elder Hales did not look "terrible". He was happy to be there, fulfilling his responsibilities as an apostle of the Lord. It would be best to pray for him, as it is obvious his health is failing, and to echo President Monson's and Elder Ballard's sentiments that we are happy to see him and we love him. Speculations on his health are also very unhelpful and will only promote gossip.

No coincidence that FamilySearch and other new tools have come forth when young people have all this technology available, and their fingers have been trained to text and to tweet for this purpose. Check out lds.org/familyhistoryyouth
